Question about Macedonia and Greece?

-I've asked a few questions about the balkans in the past but I have one question thats been on my mind for a while now. A lot of people (mainly greeks) claim that Macedonia (the yugoslavian part) was a Greek province/territory. If that's the case, why during the balkin wars did Greece split it between Serbia and Bulgaria? Why didn't Greece just claim the ENTIRE region of Macedonia and make it a state or something of Greece? By them dividing it confuses a lot of people. For example, some greeks say that when Yugoslavia named Macedonia "Macedonia", they stole the name. TECHNICALLY they didn't because Macedonia at the end of the day IS Macedonia. When you divide a pizza, the pieces are still pizza, just smaller amounts. BUT back to the war, it would have made sense to me if Greece had taken the ENTIRE macedonia region instead of dividing it. So can someone tell me why Greece DIDN'T take the entire region?Macedonia and Greece are different countries, and always have been. Occasionally (such as during the Roman era) they have been part of the same empire. As far back as 4000BC they were different communities. They were first united under Philip II (Alexander the Great's father) when Macedonia took control of the Greek city states. Greece has no claim to ownership of the region, morally or historically. The Yugoslavs did not give Macedonia it's name, the country of Yugoslavia only came into being when it was created post WWI by the victorious allies. Yugoslavia split into three seperate regions in the 1990s because they were never a cohesive groups of people, rather a conglomeration of Serbs, Croats, and Bosnians.
Macedonia has the fourth-highest proportion of Muslims in Europe, even though the largest religion is Macedonian Orthodox. The predominant language is Macedonian.

Perhaps the Greeks looked at the Macedonians and decided that they didn't want to print everything in two languages or more, as well as having a large part of the population wanting to be something other than Greek.
A young Chinese lass served me fried chicken in Macedonia(The Republic of...).

Skopje is the Capital,

The cryptic thing is that she said:"You'll always get a free dinner".I do not know what she means.

Embarrassed,I ate elsewhere,before traveling on.

I sent flowers and a friend wrote in Macedonian for me.
Because it no longer belongs to the Greeks, but to the Bulgarians. The Bulgarians settled there during the 7th century and have had a majority in the area since then. Macedonia was Greek during ancient times but now it is inhabited by Bulgarians.
In the time of the balkan wars the population of the territory of Macedonia was more than 60 % bulgarian... i don't see how Greece would have such claims...
You have misunderstand some things....

''A lot of people (mainly greeks) claim that Macedonia (the yugoslavian part) was a Greek province/territory.''

-> Greeks never bothered with the land that your country is . Although there are places that had Greek population and even Greek names in the past (like Mostastiri/Bitola), Greece only concerned about lands within its borders. Not about the Bulgarian or the Albanian part either.

"If that's the case, why during the balkin wars did Greece split it between Serbia and Bulgaria?"

-> First of all, the whole Macedonia region was split between Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria. Yes, between those countries, and not between any ''Republic of Macedonia''.

But that's not the case. I told you. Greece bothers about the region of Macedonia. The one that lies in Greece. You see, that exactly piece of land, is where ancient Macedonia was. The bigger area expanded through Latin and Byzantine.

You country lies only in a bit of the ancient part, and the rest is where ancient Dardania and Peaonia was.

And the problem is not that. In fact, is not only using a name. It's the impersonation of a history, that has nothing to do with YOU.

''Why didn't Greece just claim the ENTIRE region of Macedonia and make it a state or something of Greece? ''

-> This is Fyrom's dreams. Fyrom is dreaming of ''Aegean Macedonia'' in their books, not Greece.

Greece claimed the part that Ancient Macedonia was. And it is ''something in Greece''. What else you want to do?

For example, some greeks say that when Yugoslavia named Macedonia "Macedonia", they stole the name. TECHNICALLY they didn't because Macedonia at the end of the day IS Macedonia.

When you divide a pizza, the pieces are still pizza, just smaller amounts.

-> Wrong example. Cause pizza was ALWAYS called pizza. All of this round shape. (sometimes square). Wasn't Yugoslavia, and before Vardarska and before Bulgaria, and before Serbia and before Paionia,etcetcetc...

While the region of Macedonia in Greece, have always, 2.500 years now, called Macedonia.

''BUT back to the war, it would have made sense to me if Greece had taken the ENTIRE macedonia region instead of dividing it. So can someone tell me why Greece DIDN'T take the entire region?''

-> Why to ? It's Balkan's wars outcome. If by Balkans it was devided, let it be. Just like Thrace. Thrace is devided between Greece and Turkey.

But Turkey does NOT name the country Thrace for that reason. Neither call themselves Thracians.

I might be ignorant, yes. But too many questions about this subject, let me think of that.Anyway.
