US VS. ENGLAND

1. Describe the resources available to both sides during the war (natural resources, financial resources, etc.)

2. Describe the preparedness and size of the army on each side.

3. Describe the preparedness and size of the navy on each side.

4. Describe the motivation to fight for each side.

5. Which side had the advantage? Use the information above to justify your answer.1) The British had finances on their side, considering that they were one of the richest nations in the World. But Americans had the natural resources, considering they were fighting on their own soil which the British had to have everything shipped overseas for them, which was a huge disadvantage.



2) The British army was large but hardly prepared. Most of the soldiers had no interest in fighting America, but they were better trained. The Americans had comparatively small numbers, with no reinforcements like the British had waiting in the British isles. But they were better motivated and in most cases they had good skill with guerrilla tactics, considering most of them were hunters used to the terrain around them. As far as professional armies they were outmatched, though.



3) The British had the strongest navy in the world at the time so they were more than prepared. And the americans had almost nothing- the only reason they managed to win the war was because of help from the french navy.



4)The British had none, they were just following orders. They really didn't care too much about American freedom. The Americans, though, were fighting for everything they believed in, taking down a tyrant and gaining freedom for them and their offspring. it's not hard to tell they were more motivated.



5) Opinion question but the Americans, mainly due to their tactics and motivation.
